LAHOCO HOME 5.10

The LAHOCO summer update (5.10) is now available for all systems running version 5.5 or higher. This edition includes several highly anticipated new features and improvements.

LAHOCO HOME now supports sun-tracking via KNX! Once this function is configured using the new available parameters, intelligent control of the blinds based on actual sunlight is activated with a single click. As soon as the user performs a manual action, the blind automatically reverts to manual mode to ensure complete control.

Sun-tracking allows for energy savings

1. Summer/winter optimization (thermal gain vs. protection)

Solar tracking (calculating the azimuth and solar elevation based on geographical location and time, via an astronomical clock integrated into the automation system) allows for:

In summer : orient the blades to block direct radiation while allowing diffuse light to pass through, thus reducing the air conditioning load (up to 20-30% reduction in cooling needs according to several studies on commercial buildings).

In winter : on the contrary, allow maximum direct sunlight to penetrate in order to benefit from free solar energy and reduce heating demand.

2. Reduction in the use of artificial lighting

Unlike static closure (fixed 45° blades or blinds fully lowered), dynamic tracking allows optimal natural lighting (diffuse light, without direct glare) to be maintained throughout the day, which reduces the consumption of artificial lighting — an energy item often underestimated in commercial buildings.

3. A simple blind (controlled by a timer or light sensor alone) only opens and closes

Solar tracking adds a dimension of continuous optimal angle adjustment, which is a real commercial advantage compared to basic solutions — a technical argument used to justify the higher hardware/software costs (astronomical calculations + motor with precise slat positioning, not just raising and lowering).
